Ballet Book Club (Lockdown Edition) -S/S 2020



Deborah Bull joined The Royal Ballet School at the age of eleven, graduating into the company in 1981; over the next twenty years she graduated from the corps de ballet to principal artist dancing roles both traditional and contemporary within the company’s repertoire.

She retired from the stage in 2001 and transitioned into a career as a writer and presenter.

In her book ‘The Everyday Dancer’ she simultaneously describes the daily life (company class to curtain down) and professional career (vocational training to the final curtsy) of a classical dancer; it’s an insightful, fascinating and poignant read, examining the minute details of daily theatrical life interlaced with personal reflections.
