Patrick Swayze was an actor who found fame in the TV series 'North and South' and the cinema box office hits 'Ghost', 'Point Break' and, of course 'Dirty Dancing', to name but a few.
This was not his original career path, he trained as a classical dancer and dreamed of pursuing that.
He started his training at his mother's dance school in Houston (where he met his wife, fellow student Lisa Niemi), received a scholarship to study with The Harkness Ballet in New York and danced with the Eliot Feld Ballet as a soloist, but ongoing knee problems including several surgeries, the result of a High School Football injury, made the physical demands of ballet impossible. He describes how devastating this decision was and how he transitioned into other areas of the performing arts.
This autobiography spans Patrick's thirty year career and is an honest and poignant account of his life including his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
